After studying this material, my admiration for Peterson as composer increased. But don't be misled. The transcriptions are only of the main themes. No improvised material is included.. In the preface, Peterson seems to suggest that this is Vol.1A and that a separate Vol.1B contains 'an expanded improvisational rendition of each tune.'
However, when I contacted the publisher (Hal Leonard) about this, I was told there is no separate Vol.1B, nor is one planned. According to HL, Vol.1B refers to the lead sheets, which in light of Peterson's remarks in the preface, is absurd. That said, Peterson buffs and accomplished jazz pianists may be satisfied with this item.
