Irish National 5:00 Fairyhouse 31 points @ 8.6/1 (betfair) Bonny Kate* (min 7/1)(£133 available) 27 points @ 9/1 (PP) Venitien De Mai* (min 8/1) 23 points @ 14/1 (WH) Another Hero* (min 12/1) I presume you are not worried about the ground for Another Hero? I would have thought he is a good ground horse myself and the pedigree seems to support that theory. Not sure how Another Hero can be described as a good ground horse when improving last time out on officially soft Stilvi. Timeform have it as heavy. Although there is a worry soft ground might put too much emphasis on stamina.
He also won at a time Jonjo was in rank awful form, so not only is he improving he could improve massively on that if now in A1 condition. Can see Barry Geraghty on board too.
Would just like to express a big thank you too Admin for their help in The Memorials Section of this Forum in deleting the threads of horses whose names had been mistakenly added due to a bad fall or injury that they had recovered from. It’s a great relief to see those names removed and hopefully any concerns regarding bad falls or injury will be posted in the Horse Racing section in the future. Perhaps we could start a ‘Recovery Room’ Thread for updates on any horses that have been injured and Matron would of course be on the prowl to keep order and provide medication to those that get over stressed. Jac My thanks to Admin too. Imo A “Recovery Room” would be an excellent idea Jac.
Can I suggest the no doubt well intentioned “Any Positive News On Balthazar King?” is moved to be its first thread. May be one of the regular contributors to “Memorials” could be given the right stuff to be put in charge of moving threads from one to the other when needs arise?
Do you really believe bookmakers want a lot of non-runners? Say three horses all @ 16/1 come out. Navisworks Freedom 2014 32 Bit Free Download. Presuming they had the horses priced up correctly and taking their bookmakers mark ups off. Each horse has a 5% chance of winning. So three horses @ 16/1 coming out means 15% of their book has come out. Therefore, bookmakers have effectively laid prices which are bigger than they would’ve offered without those NRs And yet – unlike betfair punters – bookmakers can not take any reductions from winning bets taken before the three came out. Some things – like one less place for each way betting – are to the advantage of bookmakers.
Other things are in favour of punters. Swings and roundabouts, one cancels out the other. However, bookmakers price up races knowing non-runners may affect their profit margins. Just as punters know non-runners affect the number of places they’ll be paid out. If you don’t like it, don’t bet. May be racecourses should be put in bubbles, so rain can not cause chaos. Hi GT – Just wondering if you were putting anything up at Fairyhouse today. Championship Manager 3 Patch.
I strongly fancied Outlander @ 2.40+ in the Ryanair Gold Cup, 4.15, in what appears to be a 2 horse race after the two non runners (famous last words) but am worried of a steamer in Vedettariat. Already backed in today from 25/1+ to 16/1. There was over £9k trying to back on Betfair at 17.50 and 18.00. Hi Mtoto, Sorry, only just looked in. Outlander ran ok today, but am always worried when they reappear so quick after Cheltenham, even if he did come down before the race took shape.
To my mind wasn’t going that well when departing anyway and never know whether a fall has affected confidence, especially with novices. Not sure why they backed Vedettariat.
Considered doing Kylemore Lough last night, but wondered wether ground would be soft enough – only for them to have rain softened ground. In all probability will be looking at the Irish National. When was the last time “playing the game” actually worked?
Looking at the winners from the last few years they all had full, purposeful seasons. I never understood why trainers “protect” their runners with inadequate trips and hurdle races? It’s hardly tried and tested. It’s tried and failed. Look at the last 5 winners Many Clouds – Given a Gold Cup season in big fields and graded company. Pineau De Re – Big field handicaps most of the season over trips he excelled. Auroras Encore – See above.
